The new Sparkasse building in Esslingen is imposing. The building, in an exposed location with a scenic, structured roof landscape, blends in harmoniously with its urban surroundings despite being four storeys high.
When looking at this building with structure, the gaze tends to fall on the exposed concrete façade. It gives the building its unique expressive power underpinned by its fine, imposing white visual impact. This effect is created by the Berlin-coloured concrete from the faceal Colour colour chart, applied in a pre-defined degree of coverage. Since the results from treating other surfaces with faceal Colour in previous projects were so positive, this was taken into consideration from the outset in the planning of the building. Now, the 3,600 m2 of exposed concrete surfaces distinguishes the clear structure with an authentic look, in addition to the accuracy of the colour, its uniform appearance and resistance to the weather.
