Multifaceted cubes

With nearly 200 apartments in the 2,000-year old town of Fuggerstadt, the student residence complex at Silbermannpark offers attractive accommodation conveniently located near to the university. The apartments are located close to the town centre but are still within walking distance to the countryside.

The clearly structured concrete façade is characterised by pre-fabricated sandwich elements with a striking vertical and horizontal joint pattern and cubic architecture without a roof overhang. The wide joints skilfully divide the façade into an unusual grid and can result in visual impairments due to weathering and environmental influences. Another aspect is the quality of the surfaces: The geometric patterns are created through an interplay of smooth and acidified concrete, which gives the surface different grades of absorbency. Last but not least, the multifaceted cubes remain permanently clean thanks to the self-cleaning properties of faceal Oleo HD.
